Happy Thanksgiving 2018 – – A Message from Dr. Shapero

As I look out over the ocean on the sands of San Clemente there are a flood of things to be grateful for this year.

Despite the tragedies around us and especially over the last four weeks we must continue to push on and find meaning in a way that allows us to grow.  By continuing to build after the storm and continue to climb after being pushed down we grow stronger.  Despite feeling tired, wore out, or discouraged, despite feeling like one is in the dark, continue to take the next step and then the next on after that.

May you and your family take a few moments to reflect on what you can be grateful for and remind yourself what is important.  Look into the eyes of those you care about and let them know now.

Thanksgiving is truly a special day. It was first celebrated in 1621 when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians shared a fall harvest.  In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of thanksgiving to be held each year in November. In the United States, Thanksgiving is held on the fourth Thursday in November.

The true meaning of Thanksgiving, however, should not end after a prayer or a few seconds of meditation devoted to thanks.  The Holiday of Thanksgiving has broader significance.  Thanksgiving is also a call to action. It is important for us to remember that the word thanksgiving is composed of two words: thanks and giving.  Through the Holiday of Thanksgiving we are reminded to give thanks and to share and give. The Holiday reminds us to share our economic and material wealth, and to share also our time and talents with other people who could use our help.  To also acknowledge where these blessings come from.  In terms of thought and deed, the Holiday of Thanksgiving gives us an enriched perspective on the abundance in our lives.

May the your blessings continue to abound.

From this day forth, May you have a healthier tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving 2014

THANK YOU.  Although, I like to live with gratitude all year long; it is this time of year that we have an opportunity to take a deeper reflection at the things we have to be thankful for in our lives.  It is the people around us that give more meaning to the life we live.  I am personally thankful for the many people that I have had the opportunity to serve.  I am also thankful for those people who have helped me to help others.  Thank YOU!  I also thank the various professionals around me that make up what I call my team.  Those people who have a particular specialty which allows me to do more, play more and have more in life.  I am so very thankful for the people I can call friends who have also helped me grow as a person.  Who have helped smooth the bumps, share in laughter and perhaps a meal or two.  Of course family.  It is family that keeps you on your toes, is there for at any time and often challenges you.  A special Thank You to Stephanie and all the kids who are all a blessing.  We can certainly choose who we spend our time with and as life goes on we find each tick on the clock more precious than the last.  I appreciate the time we have together.  Any journey one takes in life has its challenges.  As I look around me I am thrilled that YOU have been a part of that journey.  May YOU have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Yours for Better Health, Dr. Shapero
