Novel Coronavirus – – CoVid-19 Health Updates and Resources

Corona Virus Healthcare Concept. Coronavirus 2019-nCoV Pandemic

Dear Patients, Friends, and Community

On behalf of everyone at Premier Health Care Wellness & Chiropractic, we hope you, your employees and your loved ones are well. In January of this year I gave two talks locally on the nCovid-19 or the novel coronavirus. Since that time I have done extensive research on this topic and have been sending out updates and giving small briefings in my office. As things are evolving quickly, I continue to actively monitor the developments of COVID-19 and adhere to the recommendations of federal agencies and local governments; while at the same time have instituted measures which will allow us to continue serving the community. I also have been sharing brief updated from the research done in the writing of my book on this subject.

To allow us to continue serving you as well as follow the recommendation from the World Health Organization, Center for Disease Controls and local health authorities we have instituted the following practices at this time.

  1. Social distancing, which means that we are encouraging our patients to either wait in the car or outside during busier times to reduce contact and interaction.
  2. Frequently washing and sanitizing hands and the areas that are exposed and touched. Such as, but not limited to, the sign in area, pens, door knobs, light switches, and hand rests on chairs. After researching the most effective products and applications for eradicating the virus.
  3. In between each patient the headrest area, table and arm rests are sanitized. The face paper roll has been removed to allow deeper cleaning between patients.
  4. Gowns are washed in hot water.
  5. A diffuser is used with a combination of essential oils researched and proven to be potent antiviral and antibacterial along with filters to improve air quality in the office.
  6. Essential oils are periodically applied to the high traffic areas to add additional protection.
  7. Making people more aware that house calls may be a more comfortable option for you.

So that we can continue to be a resource for you we have posted updates on our blog and social media sites. As well as including the following links for your convenience.

Covid-19

According to the International Association of Chiropractic the issue of anxiety and stress has become so prevalent that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have begun promoting information to the public. From the CDC’s website “Stress during an infectious disease outbreak can include:

  • Fear and worry about your own health and the health of your loved ones
  • Changes in sleep or eating patterns
  • Difficulty sleeping or concentrating
  • Worsening of chronic health problems
  • Increased use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs

Among the recommendations to support oneself through the stress includes, ‘take care of your body’.[1]   “Psychological conditions, such as stress or depression, are known to compromise immune defenses and increase the likelihood of infections.”[2]

Wayne Jonas, MD in his book, How Healing Works, wrote about the principles of healing, “In condition after condition, system after system, and person after person, I found three common factors that induced healing:

(1) the rituals that helped a person have a meaningful experience, (2) the support of the whole person, and (3) the regular stimulation of a biological response.

The specific treatments and agents used varied by person, culture, theory, and place, but the processes were the same. Whole systems science showed us that a person is an ecosystem – more like a garden to be cultivated than a car to be fixed.”[3]

Chiropractic supports the whole person. Vitalistic chiropractors address more than just the mechanics of the spine.

“While other professions are concerned with changing the environment to suit the weakened body, chiropractic is concerned with strengthening the body to suit the environment.”   Dr. B.J. Palmer

In the interim, if there is anything we can do for you, please reach out to us directly. We are in this together, and together we will navigate these uncertain times.

We are grateful for and appreciative of each of our patients, friends and community neighbors. Know that we are here for you.

To your health and well-being,

Yours for Better Health, Dr. Shapero
